Welcome to my blog!
It was early April 1978. Myself and my three closest friends embarked on a week-long hike to The Enchanted Valley below Anderson pass and above the Quinalt in the Olympic National Forest. On the bulletin board at the trail head we read with fascination entries from hikers clear back to the summer past. It was amazing. We instantly felt part of a community who’s faces and names were a mystery to us. Our bond; a collective love for the woods and hiking.
I remember entries like: “Fantastic! Drink the glacier!” “Many bears mile 8″ “60 candles in the log above the falls” “LOST MY GLASSES please return to Dr. M at REED COLLEGE – Reward
Each post on the bulletin were to become SO IMPORTANT to us. We did need more drinking water so we drank from that glacier. There WERE bears at mile 8 so we camped well past at mile 11 or higher so that we could rest in peace. During the rains that came (and there were plenty) we helped ourselves to some of the candles in the log although many had been used in the time that passed since that post. And when Colin found those glasses, well… we all claimed a cut of his reward!
Six days later we gathered and posted our own bit of wisdom… “Bring More Food!!!” (we would’ve needed a pack horse to carry enough food to feed us four sixteen year-olds.) What an adventure!
It’s my hope that this BLOG will be the passing-through folk’s bulletin board. Friends, students, jammers, bandmates, agents, strangers, managers, owners, audiophiles, fellow artists or even hikers feel free to say what you will about anything pertinent to the site, events or the business in general.
You can even just say “hello.”
Welcome to my Blog! Have a nice time while you’re here.
